We’re continuing from Part I of Josh and Amanda’s wedding with more film. We have a variety of moments here both in color and black and white with many portraits, smiles and laughter. I hope you enjoy!
I especially love this photo because it’s one of the few moments Josh and Amanda had time to themselves after the ceremony.
Stay tuned for the final installment of Josh and Amanda!
Shot with a Pentax K1000. Color film is Portra 400; black and white is Ilford Delta 3200.
Four months ago Gabriel was so tiny and precious. Today he’s still tiny but heavier and still even more precious. During our heat wave in San Diego I was able to capture Baby Gabriel sleeping so peacefully. I remember this very well because I was trying to get Gabriel to laugh on his play mat. Before the photos below he was wearing just a boring plain white onesie. He began crying and whining for a while as I tried everything to calm him down. It was when I began to sweat that I realized our air conditioner unit had broken down. I felt bad for Gabriel being hot and sweaty.
I pulled out three strong fans to circulate a lot of cold air in a small room. I took off his onesie and as we played with the toys on his play mat he began to get tired. Probably because of the heat. He was knocked out. I took out my camera and used up a whole b&w roll of film of just Gabriel sleeping. The best images are below.
Gabriel sleeps exactly like me
I love the grain in the black and white film. It’s just the perfect amount. Gives the photo a vintage feel. You can see Gabriel’s mole below his left nipple hehe.
Doesn’t he look so cute. Just sleeping like a champ. He slept for a couple of hours that day. I got a shot of him from every single angle and the photos above are my favorites.
Shot with a Pentax K1000 using Ilford Delta 3200 b&w film.
Josh and Amanda complement each other. Josh is cool and collected. Amanda is outgoing and animated. When you mix their personalities you get a fun, charismatic duo. Amanda is very candid and speaks her mind. If you remember their engagement session, Amanda was the one who made Josh crack some authentic smiles. Josh is a very reserved individual. He has traveled all across the United States but landed himself here in beautiful San Diego. Josh and Amanda both love the beach, and who wouldn’t disagree. They live within walking distance of the ocean. When they are together you’re sure to have a lot of laughs. The images below were shot on film.

The day began at the Sacred Heart church with a creative idea put in place by Amanda. The end result is a parting favor of vintage keys hung on a white painted door. At the top of that door displayed a message in handwritten ink:
My heart to you is given Oh do give yours to me We’ll lock them up together And throw away the key
Below the message were keys, hung by a thread and tied to a tag with each guests’ name.
Amanda’s wedding dress; beautiful diamond white, silk-like fabric. The dress is by Allure which she picked out from Bridals by Susanti.
And the bridesmaids dress
One of the reasons why I love using film is because of the spot on color.
A friend of the bride put together Amanda’s bouquet. It’s absolutely gorgeous!
I really enjoyed shooting these images on film. Stay tuned for the next part of Josh and Amanda’s wedding.
I’m going to caution you. The pictures you are about to see are just way too CUTE!
I gave Baby Gabriel a nice warm bath and captured a few frames of him drying off in his teddy bear towel. He had fun trying to bust out of it when I told him to just remain cute and smile for the camera
Chase Jarvis is an influential artist within the creative community. In the video below he describes to us the Art of Being. His, and everyone’s, Dasein.
Being ie. being in its ontological and philosophical sense
What does it mean to be an artist, or a photographer. Being creative. Living in creativity and making images. Chase tells us what it means to him.
